Kia EV6 India Review: Expensive Electric SUV Fails to Deliver Expected Performance and Value

Kia EV6 : Kia India saw a slight degrowth on a monthly basis in July. However, this was also its second-highest sales this year. For Kia, all three ICE models, Sonnet, Carens and Seltos, performed well. However, the company’s only electric car EV6 is not getting customers now.

The sales of this model have been in a bad state this whole year. EV6 Electric got only 22 customers in July. Whereas in June this figure was 24 units. However, only 22 units of it were sold from January to May.

The sales of Kia EV6 can also be estimated by looking at the sales figures of this year. The first four months of this year were very bad for EV6.

Its account did not open in January. So, 1 unit each was sold in February and March. While only 5 units were sold in April. Only 15 units were sold in May and 24 units in June. While only 22 units were sold in the last month i.e. July.

Kia EV6 Features

Talking about features, then Kia EV6 has LED DRLs strip, LED headlamps, single slat gloss black grille, wide airdam with gloss black finish, dual-tone alloy wheels, blacked-out pillars and ORVMs, taillights and dual tone bumpers.

It will have digital instrument console, new two-spoke multi functional steering wheel, touch control for AC, rotary dial for transmission and start-stop button mounted on the center console. In the Indian market, it competes with Hyundai Kona, MG ZS Electric.

Kia EV6 Battery and Motor

Talking about battery and motor, then the all-electric EV6 car being sold in India has a single battery pack of 77.4 kWh. The WLTP certified range of this Kia crossover worldwide is 528Km per charge.

However, the model being imported to India has achieved a range of 708 km on a single charge during ARAI testing.Its RWD variant has a single motor, which generates 229 bhp power and 350 Nm torque.

At the same time, the AWD variant has a dual motor. This car generates 325 bhp power and 605 Nm of peak torque. It can be charged from 10 to 80% in just 73 minutes with the help of a 50 kW DC fast charger.

Talking about price, then let us tell you that this is a premium segment electric car. Its starting ex-showroom price is Rs 61 lakh.
